Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jacob Jordaens achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. In the Master Paintings Part II auction, the work Mercury playing Argus to sleep with his flute, with Io transformed into a white heifer sold for USD 138,600.00 (€ 114,215.08) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Jordaens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saint Martin Healing The Possessed Man in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 4,730,000.00 (€ 4,366,691.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jacob Jordaens erzielte im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Master Paintings Part II wurde die Arbeit Mercury playing Argus to sleep with his flute, with Io transformed into a white heifer für USD 138.600,00 (€ 114.215,08) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Jordaens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Saint Martin Healing The Possessed Man im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.730.000,00 (€ 4.366.691,29).
