Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An extensive Italianate landscape with the calling of Cincinnatus from the plough, a view of Rome beyond by Jacob Grimmer was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 44,558.11). Admittedly, works by Jacob Grimmer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Massacre Of The Innocents in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 313,250.00 (€ 375,161.12).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit An extensive Italianate landscape with the calling of Cincinnatus from the plough, a view of Rome beyond von Jacob Grimmer im Juli 2016 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 37.500,00 (€ 44.558,11) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jacob Grimmer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Massacre Of The Innocents im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 313.250,00 (€ 375.161,12).
