Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape with travellers resting before a village, probably in England by Jacob Esselens was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,134.00 (€ 1,332.16). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Esselens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Elegant Company By A River in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 39,000.00 (€ 30,004.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landscape with travellers resting before a village, probably in England von Jacob Esselens im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.134,00 (€ 1.332,16) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Esselens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Elegant Company By A River im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 39.000,00 (€ 30.004,62).
