In January 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and European Works of Art, which included the work Elegant Company By A River by Jacob Esselens. Here, the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 39,000.00 (€ 30,004.62). With this result, Elegant Company By A River is even the most expensive work of art by Jacob Esselens that we have observed at auctions so far.
