Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Wooded River Landscape by Jacob Esselens was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,083.35). Admittedly, works by Jacob Esselens have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Elegant Company By A River in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 39,000.00 (€ 30,004.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Wooded River Landscape von Jacob Esselens im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.083,35) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jacob Esselens auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Elegant Company By A River im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 39.000,00 (€ 30.004,62).
