Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mkpuk Eba and Coiling Penny Penny by J. D. 'Okhai Ojeikere was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in April 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,253.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by J. D. 'Okhai Ojeikere have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hairstyles Series, 1968-1975 in May 2021 with an auction result of EUR 42,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Mkpuk Eba and Coiling Penny Penny von J. D. 'Okhai Ojeikere wurde im April 2019 in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.253,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von J. D. 'Okhai Ojeikere auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hairstyles Series, 1968-1975 im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 42.500,00.
