Auction result well in line with expectations
In October this year Christies in New York held the auction Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Decoration for a Music Room by Ivon Hitchens. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 75,600.00 (€ 86,809.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivon Hitchens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Azaleas, which sold at auction in January 2020 for GBP 275,000.00 (€ 327,109.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Decoration for a Music Room von Ivon Hitchens zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 75.600,00 (€ 86.809,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ivon Hitchens mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life with Azaleas beobachtet, die im Januar 2020 für GBP 275.000,00 (€ 327.109,44) versteigert wurde.
