Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Alef Bet by Issachar Ber Ryback was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,720.21). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Issachar Ber Ryback - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pogrom, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 102,000.00 (€ 151,473.19).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Alef Bet von Issachar Ber Ryback im November 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.720,21) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Issachar Ber Ryback mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pogrom beobachtet, die im November 2006 für GBP 102.000,00 (€ 151.473,19) versteigert wurde.
