In June 2017 Christies in London held the auction From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online, which included the work The Actor Ichikawa Monnosuke II and Snake before a Torii Gate by Ippitsusai Buncho. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,701.14), 16% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ippitsusai Buncho - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A full-length portrait of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro V as a boatman, signed Ippitsusai Buncho ga--very good impression, good color though some pigments faded, slight stain and soiling near edges, which sold at auction in September 2000 for USD 9,400.00 (€ 10,637.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Actor Ichikawa Monnosuke II and Snake before a Torii Gate von Ippitsusai Buncho zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.701,14) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ippitsusai Buncho mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A full-length portrait of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro V as a boatman, signed Ippitsusai Buncho ga--very good impression, good color though some pigments faded, slight stain and soiling near edges beobachtet, die im September 2000 für USD 9.400,00 (€ 10.637,09) versteigert wurde.
