It achieved a price of USD 3,240.00 (€ 2,498.27), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 47%. Admittedly, works by Ippitsusai Buncho have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A full-length portrait of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro V as a boatman, signed Ippitsusai Buncho ga--very good impression, good color though some pigments faded, slight stain and soiling near edges in September 2000 with an auction result of USD 9,400.00 (€ 10,637.09).
