Auction result well in line with expectations
The work YOZ X by Ibrahim Mahama was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 15,120.00 (€ 17,762.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ibrahim Mahama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ghanaianchale Wote in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 85,391.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit YOZ X von Ibrahim Mahama wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 15.120,00 (€ 17.762,11) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ibrahim Mahama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ghanaianchale Wote im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 85.391,64).
