Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Ghanaian Rafia Eb X by Ibrahim Mahama for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,903.45). This price was achieved in the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Ibrahim Mahama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ghanaianchale Wote in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 85,391.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2019 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Ghanaian Rafia Eb X von Ibrahim Mahama für GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.903,45) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ibrahim Mahama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ghanaianchale Wote im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 85.391,64).
