Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Market Boats, Hang-Chow Canal by Ian Fairweather was auctioned at Sothebys in Sydney in April 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 90,000.00 (€ 54,452.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ian Fairweather achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Beach At Manicahan in April 2008 with an auction result of AUD 960,000.00 (€ 580,822.20).

Die Arbeit Australian Market Boats, Hang-Chow Canal von Ian Fairweather kam im April 2008 bei Sothebys in Sydney zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 90.000,00 (€ 54.452,08) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ian Fairweather erzielen.
