Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2017 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Bathsebée by Hugues Merle. The price achieved of USD 93,750.00 (€ 80,485.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugues Merle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work French Hamlet And Ophelia, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 312,500.00 (€ 267,780.63).
