Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of A Lady, Thought To Be Lady Charlotte Mcdonnell, Countess Of Antrim (1779-1835) by Hugh Douglas Hamilton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 44,389.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hugh Douglas Hamilton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double Portrait of Mary, Countess of Erne, with her daughter Lady Caroline Crichton, later Lady Wharncliffe, full-length, seated, the former in a brown dress with a yellow sash, wearing a large straw hat, with a mandolin beside her, the latter showin in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 542,850.00 (€ 81
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Double Portrait of Mary, Countess of Erne, with her daughter Lady Caroline Crichton, later Lady Wharncliffe, full-length, seated, the former in a brown dress with a yellow sash, wearing a large straw hat, with a mandolin beside her, the latter showin im Mai 2004 mit einem Aukti
