In May 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Early Spring, Near Sheffield, Massachusetts by Hugh Bolton Jones. It changed hands for a price of USD 58,000.00 (€ 37,275.06) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Other works by Hugh Bolton Jones have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2007 the work Brook in Autumn was auctioned for USD 90,000.00 (€ 66,899.58).
