In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection, which included the work Guardians by Howard Terpning. The »bidding war« ended at USD 375,000.00 (€ 321,971.32), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Howard Terpning - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Coffee Coolers Meet the Hostiles, which sold at auction in February 2019 for USD 1,392,500.00 (€ 1,223,745.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Guardians von Howard Terpning zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 375.000,00 (€ 321.971,32) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Howard Terpning mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Coffee Coolers Meet the Hostiles beobachtet, die im Februar 2019 für USD 1.392.500,00 (€ 1.223.745,50) versteigert wurde.
