This artwork by Howard Terpning achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2008. In the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction, the work The Skeptic sold for USD 145,000.00 (€ 93,187.66) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howard Terpning achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Coffee Coolers Meet the Hostiles in February 2019 with an auction result of USD 1,392,500.00 (€ 1,223,745.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Howard Terpning erzielte im Mai 2008 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture wurde die Arbeit The Skeptic für USD 145.000,00 (€ 93.187,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Howard Terpning erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Coffee Coolers Meet the Hostiles im Februar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.392.500,00 (€ 1.223.745,50).
