This artwork by Horace Pippin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2018. In the American Art auction, the work Holy Mountain, I sold for USD 3,255,000.00 (€ 2,874,679.86) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500,000.00. This high result makes Holy Mountain, I the most expensive artwork by Horace Pippin that we have observed at auctions so far.
