It achieved a price of HKD 37,500.00 (€ 3,733.22), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Hong Lei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Speak, Memory in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 18,500.00 (€ 23,532.81).

Die Arbeit After Zhao Ji'S Song Dynasty Painting Of “Loquats And Wild Birds” von Hong Lei kam im Oktober 2012 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 37.500,00 (€ 3.733,22) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hong Lei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Speak, Memory im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.500,00 (€ 23.532,81).
