Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2013 Christies in London held the auction The Japanese Aesthetic, which included the work An okubi-e bust portrait of the actor Sawamura Kunitaro II, signed Shunkosai Hokushu ga by Shunkosai Hokushu. It changed hands for a price of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,052.49) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shunkosai Hokushu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Actors viewing cherry blossoms, which sold at auction in May 2021 for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,199.06).

Im Dezember 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Japanese Aesthetic durch, in der auch die Arbeit An okubi-e bust portrait of the actor Sawamura Kunitaro II, signed Shunkosai Hokushu ga von Shunkosai Hokushu zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 875,00 (€ 1.052,49) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Shunkosai Hokushu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Actors viewing cherry blossoms beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für GBP 1.890,00 (€ 2.199,06) versteigert wurde.
