Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Asia: Including a Collection of Works by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, which included the work Escape III by Hiroyuki Matsuura. The price achieved of USD 10,000.00 (€ 9,170.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hiroyuki Matsuura achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Akatsuki in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 2,647,500.00 (€ 217,959.35).
