Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Big Boy by Hilary Pecis was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 2,000,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 9,198,000.00 (€ 1,092,000.00). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hilary Pecis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Fish and Bird sold at auction in March last year with the realized price of GBP 942,500.00 (€ 1,117,439.83).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Big Boy von Hilary Pecis im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 2.000.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 9.198.000,00 (€ 1.092.000,00) mehr als viermal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Hilary Pecis; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Fish and Bird im März letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 942.500,00 (€ 1.117.439,83).
