The work Segesta by Herbert Bayer was sold in the The Mind's Eye / Surrealist Sale auction at Bonhams in London in March 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 25,250.00 (€ 29,662.25), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Herbert Bayer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mirage In The Mountains in July 2020 with an auction result of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 139,427.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Segesta von Herbert Bayer wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion The Mind's Eye / Surrealist Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 25.250,00 (€ 29.662,25) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Herbert Bayer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mirage In The Mountains im Juli 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 125.000,00 (€ 139.427,98).
