Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Richmond, California by Henry Wessel was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,912.50 (€ 1,787.72). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Wessel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Icons Portfolio in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 44,450.00 (€ 53,117.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Richmond, California von Henry Wessel im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.912,50 (€ 1.787,72) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henry Wessel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Icons Portfolio im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 44.450,00 (€ 53.117,68).
