Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2008 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist and Spanish Art, which included the work A fruit market, Suez by Henry Wallis. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,940.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Henry Wallis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dr Johnson At Cave'S, The Publisher. Johnson, Too Ragged To Appear At Cave'S Table, Has A Plate Of Victuals Sent To Him Behind The Screen. Vide Boswell in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 47,939.83).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European Art including Orientalist and Spanish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A fruit market, Suez von Henry Wallis zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.940,70) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Wallis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dr Johnson At Cave'S, The Publisher.
