Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Christies held the auction An Aesthetic Odyssey: The Peter Rose and Albert Gallichan Collection, which included the work Etna, From The Theatre At Taormino by Henry Wallis. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,271.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Henry Wallis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dr Johnson At Cave'S, The Publisher. Johnson, Too Ragged To Appear At Cave'S Table, Has A Plate Of Victuals Sent To Him Behind The Screen. Vide Boswell in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 47,939.83).
