Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work The Old Homestead by Henry John Sylvester Stannard for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,137.61). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry John Sylvester Stannard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Playing marbles, which sold at auction in March 2002 for GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,604.08).
