This artwork by Henry Mayo Bateman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2018. In the Annabel's auction, the work The Author of the latest revue takes his call sold for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,383.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Mayo Bateman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Honour was satisfied in the season in retrospect (i); Demonstration of the new flexible fowling piece for crack shots (ii) in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,659.01).
