Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two children sitting on a riverbank before a thatched cottage by Henry John Sylvester Stannard was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours auction at Christies in London in October 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,227.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry John Sylvester Stannard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Playing marbles, which sold at auction in March 2002 for GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,604.08).

Die Arbeit Two children sitting on a riverbank before a thatched cottage von Henry John Sylvester Stannard wurde im Oktober 2006 in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.160,00 (€ 3.227,23) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
