Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2017 Christies in London held the auction Victorian Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Illustration For Wagner'S Centenary Programme At The Royal Albert Hall, 1913: 'The Ride Of The Valkyries' by Henry James Holiday. The price achieved of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,501.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry James Holiday achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sara, belle d'indolence in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 55,000.00 (€ 61,439.90).
