This artwork by Henry Dawson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2002. In the VICTORIAN PICTURES auction, the work Rain clearing off, Thorpe Green (lower left) sold for GBP 35,850.00 (€ 55,451.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Henry Dawson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Durham Cathedral From The River sold at auction in May 2013 with the realized price of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 61,380.70).
