Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work William de Vere, 9th Duke of St Albans (1801-1849) in Ducal robes, facing right, his right hand resting on his coronet; urn and draped white curtain background by Henry Collen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 646.25 (€ 1,056.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Henry Collen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lady Elizabeth Vernon Harcourt, facing right in yellow and blue dress, black stole, ruby-set pendant at corsage, her curling long brown hair falling over her shoulders in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,066.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU durch, in der auch die Arbeit William de Vere, 9th Duke of St Albans (1801-1849) in Ducal robes, facing right, his right hand resting on his coronet; urn and draped white curtain background von Henry Collen zur Versteigerung kam.
