Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Windsor Castle from the Great Park by Henry Charles Fox was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 480.00 (€ 704.44). Admittedly, works by Henry Charles Fox have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A shepherd driving sheep down a country lane with the harvesters beyond in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,828.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Windsor Castle from the Great Park von Henry Charles Fox im September 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 480,00 (€ 704,44) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Charles Fox auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A shepherd driving sheep down a country lane with the harvesters beyond im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.828,16).
