Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS, which included the work A Horse-Drawn Cart Crossing A Ford by Henry Charles Fox. The price achieved of GBP 480.00 (€ 711.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Charles Fox - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A shepherd driving sheep down a country lane with the harvesters beyond, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,828.16).
