This artwork by Henry Charles Fox achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2004. In the British and Continental Watercolours auction, the work Returning to the farm; and Off to the fields sold for GBP 776.75 (€ 1,162.72) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 400.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Charles Fox - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A shepherd driving sheep down a country lane with the harvesters beyond, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,828.16).
