In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours including Original, which included the work Cattle crossing a ford at Fordingbridge, Hampshire by Henry Charles Fox. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 956.00 (€ 1,444.73), 59% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Henry Charles Fox; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A shepherd driving sheep down a country lane with the harvesters beyond sold at auction in May 2000 with the realized price of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,828.16).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 59 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours including Original durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cattle crossing a ford at Fordingbridge, Hampshire von Henry Charles Fox zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 956,00 (€ 1.444,73) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Henry Charles Fox; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A shepherd driving sheep down a country lane with the harvesters beyond im Mai 2000 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.828,16).
