Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Before the hunt by Henry Alken was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 240.00 (€ 181.41). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Alken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Start For The Derby, 1847; And Cossack Winning The Derby, 1847 (Two Works) in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 57,834.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Before the hunt von Henry Alken im Februar 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 240,00 (€ 181,41) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henry Alken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit British Start For The Derby, 1847; And Cossack Winning The Derby, 1847 (Two Works) im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 57.834,61).
