This artwork by Henri Matisse achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November this year. In the Impressionist & Modern Works on Paper Sale auction, the work Portrait de Lydia sold for USD 289,800.00 (€ 265,676.57) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Henri Matisse erzielte im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Works on Paper Sale wurde die Arbeit Portrait de Lydia für USD 289.800,00 (€ 265.676,57) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Matisse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Odalisque couchée aux magnolias im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.750.000,00 (€ 69.194.515,85).
