In April last year Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work An Allegory of the Arts; An Allegory of Learning by Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,080.00 (€ 12,020.04), 68% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Boeren Buijtenvreugt': a wedding dance in a village, which sold at auction in May 2002 for EUR 35,850.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Allegory of the Arts; An Allegory of Learning von Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 12.020,04) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Boeren Buijtenvreugt': a wedding dance in a village beobachtet, die im Mai 2002 für EUR 35.850,00 versteigert wurde.
