Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Luteplayer Carousing With A Young Woman Holding A Roemer by Hendrick ter Brugghen was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2010. The price achieved of GBP 1,273,250.00 (€ 1,530,939.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hendrick ter Brugghen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bagpipe Player In Profile in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 10,162,500.00 (€ 7,936,972.82).
