Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Democritus and Heraclitus by Hendrick ter Brugghen was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 195,490.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrick ter Brugghen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bagpipe Player In Profile in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 10,162,500.00 (€ 7,936,972.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Democritus and Heraclitus von Hendrick ter Brugghen kam im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 175.000,00 (€ 195.490,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hendrick ter Brugghen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bagpipe Player In Profile im Januar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.162.500,00 (€ 7.936.972,82).
