Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Fine Japanese and Korean Art, including the Crawford Collection of Surimono, which included the work Showa Era (1926-1989), 1980S by Hashimoto Okiie. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,020.00 (€ 881.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hashimoto Okiie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unknown, which sold at auction in May 2011 for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,858.76).
