Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mr John Bowes' bay colt West Australian winner of the Epsom Derby 1853 by Harry Hall was sold in the Sporting & Wildlife Art auction at Christies in London in December 2012. The price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,079.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Harry Hall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fisherman with jockey up attended by a groom on a race course in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 42,000.00 (€ 62,005.18).
