This artwork by Harold Knight achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July this year. In the British and European Art auction, the work Land's End sold for GBP 49,140.00 (€ 57,331.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Harold Knight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Florence in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 458,500.00 (€ 544,797.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Harold Knight erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and European Art wurde die Arbeit Land's End für GBP 49.140,00 (€ 57.331,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Harold Knight auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Florence im Juli 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 458.500,00 (€ 544.797,19).
