Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Hao Liang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2019. In the Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction, the work An Anecdote From The Grove sold for HKD 15,175,000.00 (€ 1,727,356.93) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 6,000,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hao Liang; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Poison Buddha 2 sold at auction in July 2020 with the realized price of HKD 16,975,000.00 (€ 1,859,839.48).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Hao Liang erzielte im April 2019 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit An Anecdote From The Grove für HKD 15.175.000,00 (€ 1.727.356,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 6.000.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Hao Liang; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Poison Buddha 2 im Juli 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 16.975.000,00 (€ 1.859.839,48).
