This price was achieved in the auction Twentieth Century British Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gwyther Irwin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work West Of Thornton, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,726.53).
