Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A boy, in white coat with blue collar and white buttons, blue waistcoat, white lace cravat, powdered wig en queue by Gustavus Hamilton was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,187.50 (€ 1,662.81) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Gustavus Hamilton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mr and Mrs John Kirwan; he, facing right in gold-bordered blue coat and waistcoat, frilled lace cravat, powdered bag wig; and she, facing left in purple dress with lace-bordered fichu, fur stole, pearl necklace, gauze veil falling from her dark upswe in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 7,224.2

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.187,50 (€ 1.662,81) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00.
