Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Christies in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work Le lion amoureux (The Lion in Love) by Gustave Moreau. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 325,000.00 (€ 381,129.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gustave Moreau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La Chimère, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 677,250.00 (€ 974,220.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Le lion amoureux (The Lion in Love) von Gustave Moreau zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 325.000,00 (€ 381.129,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gustave Moreau mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La Chimère beobachtet, die im November 2004 für GBP 677.250,00 (€ 974.220,47) versteigert wurde.
