Despite a disappointment, a good price for Gustave Moreau
In November 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work La Chimère by Gustave Moreau for GBP 677,250.00 (€ 974,220.47). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art Including Spanish Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, La Chimère is the most expensive artwork by Gustave Moreau that we have observed at auction so far.

Im November 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit La Chimère von Gustave Moreau für GBP 677.250,00 (€ 974.220,47) erwerben.
